1. Sakkara/Memphis -75 US per person:
Drive through the countryside to the Sakkara complex for a visit to the Step Pyramid of Zoser, the first pyramid to be built, and the surrounding monuments. Your guide will give you details of Imhoteb the builder and how it was built. Visit the open air Museum at Memphis where the Colossus of Ramses the II, the largest statue of Ramses the Great can be seen in the place where it was discovered, see the Alabaster Sphinx alongside. We stop for lunch in a typical countryside restaurant where you witness breadmaking before returning to Cairo with a stop at a local school of carpet making where you will see the nimble fingered local children weaving carpets and wall hangings.
2. Alexandria - 70 US per person:
An early departure for Alexandria, meeting place of Anthony and Cleopatra, in the north on the Mediterranean Sea. A visit to the National Museum, the open air Roman amphitheater, the Catacombs and visit the Citadel from the Islamic period, where they recently found what they believe is the Palace of Cleopatra. Visit the Bibliotheca the newly rebuilt Library, built to replace the one burnt down during the time of Cleopatra. A late lunch before we return to Cairo for a late arrival.
3. Fayyoum Oasis - 70 US per person:
A day tour to Egypt’s largest and most beautiful oasis, Fayyoum, where you see green in middle of the desert, water mills, the natural lakes and waterfalls and white crystal desert. Lunch on your own at the oasis before returning to Cairo.
4. Cairo - Suez - Ismailia - Port Said: 120 US per person
A visit to the Suez Canal which runs the 100km between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. We visit the cities of Ismailia and Port Said site of the digging of the canal and the world struggle over this strategic waterway. (3-4 hours drive each way)
